Como prometido, eis o post com a decoração e designs que preparei para o casamento. Eu inventei tanta coisa! E se tivesse dado mais tempo, teria bolado mais coisinhas ainda. Ficou curioso? Minha primeira dica para um casamento cool e baratinho é » crie uma identidade visual: facilita muito planejar a decoração após selecionar um tema para a festa. Outra dica para economizar é escolher as flores da estação e da região. O dia e horário da cerimônia e festa interfere muito no orçamento final: que tal fazer a festa no domingo, e durante o dia? Celebrar a cerimônia e a festa no mesmo local também ajuda bastante a poupar. Procure bem na sua cidade lugares bonitos e que não sejam mainstreams. Um lugar que não seja tão visado e badalado acaba ficando mais original e em conta.

Caso o dimdim esteja apertado, evite bandas e DJ famosos. DJ’s muito populares costumam cobrar uma facada, e bandas boas mais ainda (o caché se multiplica pela quantidade de integrantes). Eu pedi ajuda a um colega e encontrei um DJ bem legal e acessível. Para ajudá-lo, eu e o Thomas criamos uma playlist quilométrica e um briefing das músicas que a gente gostava. Para a cerimônia, chamamos um casal que descobrimos num café aqui de Floripa. Ouvimos a dupla cantando beatles perfeitamente e foi amor a primeira “escutada”.

Sei que é difícil, mas chame somente as pessoas muito próximas e familiares. O maior investimento do casamento é o buffet, então a matemática é simples: quanto mais gente você chamar, mais cara a festa ficará. Chamar poucas pessoas foi sem dúvida a tarefa mais difícil de todo o planejamento, ainda mais com palpites vindo de todos os lados. Mas no final das contas um casamento mais íntimo e só com pessoas bem próximas é muito especial e vale a pena o esforço.

Faça você mesmo! Que tal bolar suas próprias lembrancinhas, montar alguns itens de decoração e guardar vasinhos reciclados para as flores? Eu usei na decoração livros antigos e emprestados da minha mãe e irmã – deu um toque muito maneiro. Também usei vidrinho de leite de coco, de papinha de neném (valeu, lê!), de vinho, de perfume, latinhas de talco… Reciclei também porta retratos, que foram utilizados para espalhar recadinhos engraçados pelo ambiente.

Em vez de noivinhos de bolo super caros, usei uma ilustração minha impressa em papel mesmo, presa no bolo com palitinhos de churrasco! Essa ideia, e tantas outras, encontrei vasculhando os sites legais de casamento que comentei no post anterior. Para a galera se divertir na festa fiz alguns balões de fala com frases engraçadas, máscaras com os rostos dos noivos e confettis. Tudo feito de papel, barato até dizer chega, e fugindo daquelas bugingangas e pisca piscas que ninguém aguenta mais.

Cara noiva moderna e nerd, use a Internet a seu favor: já pensou em entregar os “save the date” e convites somente online? Foi o que eu fiz – imprimi apenas alguns poucos convites, para pais, irmãos e padrinhos. Também criei um blog, com informações sobre lista de presente, mapa pra festa, dica de como ir vestido, etc. Aliás, até os presentes podiam ser comprados on-line.

Para o post não ficar enorme, procurei ser bem breve nas dicas. Se vocês tiverem alguma dúvida ou quiserem saber mais detalhes sobre algo, é só comentar aqui embaixo que eu respondo. My first tip to a cool and cute wedding is: create a visual identity » it helps to plan the decoration after deciding a theme for the party. Another tip to save money is to choose the flowers of the station and region. The day and hour of the ceremony also interferes with the final budget: how about making the party in a sunday, during the day? Celebrate the ceremony and the party at the same place also helps to save. Search for pretty places at your city and stay away from the mainstream spots. A place that isn’t so popular may be also nice and affordable.

If money is an issue, don’t hire fancy DJ’s or bands. Popular DJ’s will probably charge you a small fortune and cool bands even more. I asked one friend for help and found a nice affordable DJ. To help him, me and Thomas created a enormous playlist/briefing with the songs that we love. For the ceremony, we hired a couple that we discover at a café in our hometown. We listened to them performing beatles and it was love at first “hear”.

This one is hard » invite only really really close friends and family. The biggest budget on a wedding is the buffet, so the math is simple: the more people you invite, the more expensive the party will be. Calling just a fell people was without a doubt the hardest task in all the planning, specially with all the interferences. But at the end of the day, a small intimate wedding with only people you are really close to is really special and it’s worth the trouble.

DIY! How about creating your own gifts, set up the decoration, collect recycled vases for the flowers? I used in the decoration old books I borrowed from my sister and mom, it gave a nice touch! I also used recycled glass bottles, old perfumes, baby food, wine… I used old photos frames as well, to place funny messages along the room.

Instead of pricy cake toppers, I used one of my illustrations, printed on paper, fixed on the cake with wood sticks. This idea, as so many others, I had while browsing trough the sites I suggested in the previous post. To entertain the folks at the dance floor, I did some comic ballons with funny frases, groom and bride masks and confettis. All made of paper, very cheap!

Dear nerdy bride, use the internet to your favor: have you thought about sending the ‘save the dates’ and invites only via email? That’s what I did! I also created a blog for the wedding, with informations about the gifts, a google map, tips about the dress code, etc. Even the gifts could be purchased online.

Sketch

Depois de decidir que faria o casamento no outono, logo pensei nas cores desta estação, em folhas, em texturas. E, com isso em mente, bolei os mascotes/marca da festa: dois passarinhos. O humor fica por conta dos personagens imitarem os noivos, sendo a passarinha bem menor com perninha grossa e o passarinho mais alto e estiloso de chapéuzinho. Se você gosta de sketches, o dribbble.com é um prato cheio.

After we decided to tie the not in the fall, I immediately thought about the pretty colors and themes of this station. With that in mind, I came up with the logo for the party: two little birds. The small and chubby is me, and the tall stylish is my husband (just like in real life, lol). If you love sketches, check out also dribbble.com.

Colors

Como disse antes, o fato de a festa ser no outono me motivou a fazer um brainstorm de cores que casam com esta estação. Verde, amarelo queimado, laranja e marrom me vieram logo em mente. Para variar, pesquisei inspirações no site colourlovers.com, que sou fã.

A fall wedding asks for a fall palette, of course. Green, yellow, orange, brown soon came to mind. As always, I turned to colourlovers.com for inspiration. Huge fan of this site.

Inspiration

Quando estou empolgada com um projeto eu me transformo na LOUCA das referências. Perdi a conta de imagens inspiradores que salvei para convites, decoração, fotos, bouquets, bolos, etc. Ao observar meu moodboard, logo notei que estava querendo algo mais indie, 60′s e vintage. Minhas principais fontes de inspiração foram: designsponge.com, ruffledblog.com, behance.com, rock and roll bride.

When I’m super excited about a project, I transform myself into crazy ref lady! I lost track on how many inspirational images I saved for invites, decoration, photos, bouquets, cakes. When I looked at my moodboard I soon noticed that I was going for something indie-60s-vintage-diy looking. My favorites websites for references were: designsponge.com, ruffledblog.com, behance.com, rock and roll bride.

Colors 2

À medida que fui criando as peças do casamento, percebi que fui evoluindo a paleta inicialmente criada. Então estabeleci uma nova, mais resumida, para tentar controlar a bagunça. Mas não me preocupei muito em usar somente uma cor, pois achei que um pouco de liberdade cromática emprestaria uma atmosfera mais descontraída pra decoração.

While I was developing the wedding designs, I realized that the original palette had changed. So I made a new one, smaller, to control the mess. But I certainly didn’t worry about using just one or two colors: I believe that a bit of chromatic freedom gives a cute laid-back atmosphere to the decoration.

Fonts

Assim como as referências visuais, eu sempre me empolgo pesquisando por fontes. Como eu já sabia mais ou menos a linha que eu queria trabalhar, separei fontes voltadas para isso. Fui à caça de uma fonte que lembrasse os anos 60, conjugada com uma que lembrasse uma escrita à mão, mais clean. Gosto bastante do site FontSquirrel.

Just like visual references, I always get carried away searching for fonts. Since I already knew more or less the visual style I was going for, it were easier to search for options. I looked for a font with a 60′s appeal to combine with a handwritten/cleaner one. I use FontSquirrel to hunt for fonts.

Vector 01

Primeiro teste de vetor. Nesta versão usei tons de verde e amarelo.

Vetor ligeiramente diferente, já alterando e melhorando alguns detalhes.

Vetor final

Ilustração final, com o vetor utilizando de stroke um brush do illustrator. Esse brush simula um giz de cera e deu um ar menos certinho ao desenho. Também mudei a cor do fundo para azul, à pedido do noivo, que preferia esta combinação. Além disso, inseri algumas (várias) texturas e acabamentos, para conseguir um resultado mais vintage.

Final illustration, with the vector using an illustrator brush that simulated a crayon, giving the drawing a more organic messy look. My fiancé suggested, and I changed the background color to blue. As a texture freak, I added a bunch of them, to get a vintage feel to the comp.

Você sabe que seu ano foi corrido quando você só arruma tempo no final de dezembro para colocar no portfolio um trabalho que fez no começo de janeiro! Mas isso é bom sinal, significa que meu primeiro ano oficialmente como freelancer foi bem produtivo O projeto que eu cito no título do post foi feito para um restaurante de comida brasileira daqui de Santa Catarina. Eu fiz a Programação Visual completa: marca, ilustrações, sinalização, papelaria, grafismos, manual de identidade visual, etc… Coloquei algumas imagens do resultado final lá no meu portfolio. You realize that you had a crazy busy year when you find the time only in december to post a project that you made in january! But that’s a good sign, right? It means that my first year as an official freelancer was very productive “Restaurant Samba” was a project made for a brazilian food restaurant, where I did the whole visual communication: the brand, the illustrations, packaging… I posted some images of the final result into my portfolio, check it out! Vocês acreditam que eu, em quase 10 anos de profissão, nunca tinha feito um cartão de visitas pessoal? Sempre que eu tinha uma reunião importante, uma viagem ou uma entrevista de emprego eu apelava para as gráficas rápidas de esquina ou, glup, para a boa e velha impressora jato de tinta. Mas ultimamente eu tenho feito várias reuniões com fornecedores por causa de um projeto pessoal, e decidi criar vergonha na cara e fazer um cartão mais bonitinho. Mas nem perdi muito tempo com isso: criei um layout rápido e rasteiro com as ilustras que fiz pro site e mandei imprimir em um site que amigos indicaram. Escolhi um modelo com os cantos arredondados e em pvc. Sim, meu cartão é resistente, você não consegue rasgá-lo, mua ha ha (obs: eu tirei bem toscamente meu tel fora na foto do verso do cartão. Desde que recebi um e-mail de um cara se oferecendo pra se fantasiar de PORCO pra mim eu tenho ficado mais preocupada com os stalkers da interwebs, haha)

Do you guys believe that I, in almost 10 years working as a designer, never had a personal business card? Everytime I had an important meeting, or a trip, or a job interview I printed my business cards in my lame inkjet printer. Shame on me! But lately I’m having a lot of meetings with local suppliers for a personal project, so I decided to make a nice card for once. But to be honest I didn’t loose to much time on it: I created a quick layout with my website’s illustrations, and sent to a website that my friends recommended. I picked a model with round corners and in pvc, hope you guys liked it!

Com o lançamento do Internet Explorer 9, a Microsoft criou um pacote de experiências premium que mostrassem ao usuário todo o poder e possibilidades do novo navegador. Dentro deste contexto, eles pediram para o pessoal do estúdio Pixel Lab criar um jogo que rodasse perfeitamente no próprio navegador, dando a sensação de ser um aplicativo nativo, utilizando os artifícios mais modernos da web. Participei neste projeto a convite do pessoal do estúdio, desenvolvendo as interfaces, a marca e as ilustrações. De longe um dos projetos mais legais que participei nos últimos meses! With the launch of Internet Explorer 9, Microsoft create a set of premium experiences that showcased all the power and possibilities that the new browser offered. They asked the awsome folks at Pixel Lab to create a game that felt like it was as smooth and immersive as a natively installed app. The studio invited me to create the layouts, the illustrations and the logo. And I have to say: I had so much fun doing it! Loved this project. I posted in my portfolio some screenshots of the game, check it out! You can also see it (and play it) live on the official website. And, finally, in the studio’s website you’ll find an amazing case study, full of details and infos about the creation of the game. You don’t wanna miss it! (Thanks again for the invite, Robby )

Mini-post para avisar que o blog da minha irmã finalmente entrou no ar! Yay! O layout não ficou exatamente como eu tinha planejado (tive que substituir as fontes, snifs), pois como não compramos um domínio nem hospedagem (mão fechada feelings), tivemos que contar com o que o wp.com oferecia. Aliás, a querida Fernanda teve que se virar pra dar conta! (não só de programar dentro do wp, mas de me aguentar também, heh). Quick-post to announce that my sister’s blog is finally online, yay! The layout didn’t turned out exactally like I had planned (I had to change the fonts *sobs*), because we chose not to buy a domain or a hosting thingy. Because of that, the lovely Fernanda used only what wp.com had available to implement the layout. But her biggest accomplishment was to survive another project with me! For you who just landed here out of nowhere, check out also theses other two posts: Making of | Abduzeeda. A special thanks to my sister, that didn’t make a briefing when I asked her to, and now wants to change “a few things” in the layout! #killmenow

Hoje no twitter eu comentei que eu tinha notícia tão legal quanto bizarra para contar. A novidade é que eu fui convidada para ser jurada de um Desafio Internacional de Design, organizado pelo pessoal da NewWebPick. Quando eles me chamaram, eu fiquei com um pouco de receio, pois concursos e licitações são temas polêmicos e controversos no mundo do Design. Mas li atentamente a todo o regulamento do desafio, e achei tudo bem justo e organizado. E afinal de contas, se Paulo Coelho e Ivete Sangalo podem ser jurados de design, oi eu também posso. Vou analisar as propostas com bastante atenção e cuidado, tentando colaborar, dentro do meu alcance, para concursos de design mais sérios. Copiei depois do jump algumas informações sobre o concurso, mas se quiser saber mais, entra no site oficial.
